Mary’s Center has been recognized by Anthem and its subsidiary Amerigroup Maryland for its commitment to patient care.
Anthem and Amerigroup Maryland, a Managed Care Organization, were impressed by Mary’s Center overall high scores on HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set), a standardized tool used to measure a health care facility’s performance on important dimensions of care and service. Mary’s Center also exceeded expectations in performance in Amerigroup’s Provider Quality Incentive Program (PQIP) pilot project.
In naming Mary’s Center a “success story”, Amerigroup’s Karol Zimmerman, Manager of their PCP Network, noted the outstanding outreach done by our MCO Panel Team.
The team - consisting of Jacqueline Mallet-Cedeno (MCO Panel Nurse Manager), Jennifer Interiano (MCO Panel Assistant) and Lidia Argueta-Diaz (MCO Panel Assistant) – identified and provided extensive outreach to patients who needed to come in for HEDIS measures such as annual physicals, and diabetes and hypertension checks, and scheduled those appointments.
Mrs. Cedeno explained that same day outreach is necessary because “Parents remember their child’s physical, but they tend to forget their own, especially when it’s scheduled months ahead of time. Even if the patient gets a call two days before, they sometimes don’t remember. Our same-day reminder calls have proven to be very effective. Patients are really coming in. If you call on the day and they say they cannot come in, you can open up that particular slot for a walk-in patient and it does not go unused. You can also immediately reschedule the original patient for a time that’s more convenient for them.”
We congratulate the MCO Panel Team on a job well done! Their dedication to our patients is inspiring. We also thank Amerigroup Maryland and Anthem for partnering with us.
