Stuart Butler

Biography: 

Stuart Butler is a Senior Fellow in Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution. Before joining Brookings, Stuart spent 35 years at The Heritage Foundation, as Director of the Center for Policy Innovation and earlier as Vice-President for Domestic and Economic Policy Studies.  He is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown’s School of Public Policy and a member of Editorial Board of the journal Health Affairs. Stuart also serves on the Congressional Budget Office’s Panel of Health Advisors, and is a member of the Board on Health Care Services at the National Academy of Medicine. Most recently, he has been focusing on the intersection between health, education, housing, and other services. Stuart earned an MA in Economics and History and a Ph.D. in American Economic History from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. He was elected to the Mary's Center's Board of Directors in December 2016.
