Lucero is an immigration attorney focused on family petitions and she also represents unaccompanied minors in state and administrative hearings and immigration matters before the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security. Previously, she served for four years as a political appointee at the U.S. Department of Labor. In that capacity, she served under Secretaries Hilda L. Solis and Thomas E. Perez focusing on workers' rights in the areas of health and safety as well as diversity in Federal hiring. She has also worked at the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA); the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI); and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF). Lucero is a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she earned a bachelor’s degree in International Development Studies and Chicana/o Studies, and American University, Washington College of Law. She joined the Board in February 2011 and serves on the Governance Committee.
